  • I thought everyone onsite would like to hear some good news. Samia had her major stroke in 2002. The first miracle was that she survived, against all doctors' predictions and returned to do well in mainstream school. 4 years after that she developed epilepsy and she has had a hard struggle with secondary school, as she has been having 4-5 seizures a day, stonking migraines and very little support from the school. But finally, she got to the top of the list for epilepsy surgery, which has been successful and she is determined to have another go at GCSEs and prove her secondary teachers wrong about her. They said she was 'Incapable of surmounting the obstacle of exams' - she got Ds and Es, even though she was very ill when she took them, just prior to surgery! So, I think that proves that she has amazing determination, can do very well, now that she is seizure free :-)
