Welcome

The UK's first Childhood Stroke support Site, established 2009

amandaholden2

This site has been setup and run by for parents of children who have suffered a stroke or AVM's. It aims to provide advice, help or just a place to come and chat. We need to raise the awareness around the world. The great news is that Amanda Holden is proudly supporting childhood stroke support, raising the awareness!

Over the coming weeks and months we will be adding articles to the site to increase everybody's knowledge about a subject matter where little information becomes available.

If you are a new user to this site please use the Register link on the right hand menu to register with us. Once you have registered you will be sent an activation email.

The site has been organised by myself Soniya Mundy after beautiful son Kray had a brain haemorrhage and stroke in June 2008. It was caused by an AVM. His AVM had ruptured causing a huge blood clot and stroke. It effected his left side. Kray spent 2 months in frenchay hospital and underwent 8 hours of open brain surgery.

We must stress that this Site is run by Mums & Dads who have been affected by Childhood Strokes, we are not just for Childhood Stroke Survivors but for every Parent who have been affected by Childhood Strokes.

Support Our Petition Online

Childhood strokes are in the top ten deaths of children in the UK.  Up to 500 children a year suffer a stroke, not all survive. The same amount of children a year are diagnosed with cancer, the solid organ cancer (brain tumors). There is a register that has been running for over 30 years for childhood cancers which has been vital for diagnosis, treatment, aftercare and support. There is not a register for childhood strokes. This needs to change. We need to monitor how many children and babies are having stroke, causes and outcome and the aftercare they receive. Please sign and show your support.

A Message from Chris Parsley

Hi All,

I am please to see your website. We have had a long battle with stroke and “AVM”. Our son Ethan was diagnosed in 2001 with an inoperaple AVM. He passed away a little over a month ago due to a bleed. He was nineteen. You can read our whole story at http://www.chriscrosses.com.

I have also setup a memorial was in honor of Ethan at the above website. Hang in there everyone. My wife Wende and I have 9 years of experience with this and if anyone has any questions of just wants to talk please feel free to write.

God Bless, Chris
